Nandi :)

Hello!

I've had a great day! Nandi just left Vichy half an hour ago, after staying the night in Escurolles. It was great seeing her and quite bizarre too... I never thought we'd just meet up in France one day.

She arrived yesterday at midday and got settled in at Escurolles. Her French is fantastic! I dont think I will be anywhere near as good after just 3 months! Being the lovely bossy cousin she is, she made me start writing down all the new words and phrases I learn. I suppose it will be useful :)

We spent yesterday afternoon roaming the streets of escurolles, despite the fact that it was -4°c, and discovered some very cute things, including a gorgeous church. It had a Hunchback of Notredame bell and everything! This morning we walked through the snow (yes, the snow!!!) to get breakfast at the local boulangerie, and gorged ourselves on a slightly burnt almond croissant and a very yummy pain chocolat. We were soaked and freezing by the time we got back, but it was worth it... plus, we need the excercise.

I just got to school to find that I my history teacher is away... meaning I dont have class. It is so annoying! I hate having to wait around for hours, when I could be learning something or doing something fun. Ah well, cultural differences.

Until next time,

Jessica

  1. Oh and its definitely handy to get a french textbook for foreigners to study from when you have no classes (I often don't have classes, or teachers don't turn up, OR i just get bored in italian because they are studying crappy literature) so I do italian exercises or translate english songs into italian. Another good thing is to read small kids books. I found 'the small prince' in italian (i think its actually originally a french book) and its super cute and really good for practising reading and learning new vocab :)

And by three months understanding everything will be much easier :)
