Hello!
So, Ive been preparing a few Aussie meals for my host family lately, and it all seems to have gone down quite well. Last Sunday, I decided to introduce them to the concept of vegetarianism, because it is literally non-existent here, and prepared my fave meal of all time, Spinach,Pumpkin and Goats cheese lasagne. Except that we couldnt find pumpkin ANYWHERE... like seriously, so I had to just add more tomatoes and cheese and spinach. It was still delicious... it was so good not eating meat for a change. And eating something with actual flavour... French food is so bland. My host mum really liked it which was good, but I think Koly was just being nice. ANd I made the salad for a change, and added actual vegeatbles (in France the salades are just lettuce, flavoured up with fatty dressing), and served it with balsamic vinegar, so that sort of put them all into shock. They didnt really eat it actually... ah well, I enjoyed having some good healthy food for a change.
Then the other day I decided to have another go in the kitchen and whipped up a Self-saucing Chocolate Pudding... it was sooooooooooooo goood. I must be like the master of chocolate puddings, seriously. And my host family loved it, especially Koly.
I have to prepare an Australian dinner for 30-40 Rotarians soon, and I have no idea what to make. I was just going to do sausages in bread, with a potato salad, and maybe a big garden salad, but do you think they'd find it sort of... primitive? Suggestions please!!
Anyways, gotta go, but lots of love, and I miss you all,
Jess
